Hey friends, here it is.
This is the 1962 Vogue Cover i drew while on the plane over here.
What do you think? Is it Audrey Hepburn?
My gut tells me it is, but not sure.
How have you all been?
It's been fun out here.
Just was walking on the beach over to Pipeline today and it began to rain on us.
It's incredible out here.
Don't think i could live out here cause i don't think i would get any work done. haha
Well, i hope you all are doing good and hope you like the cover. i can't wait to scan it when i get home.

Perez Hilton

Hello friends!
Sorry to miss another night of posts. i think i finally have this whole internet thing worked out.
Did a long night of Karaoke last night!
I definitely sang Peter Pan's "I Don't Want to Grow Up"! haha
And then, i wake up this morning to see Mr. Perez Hilton had posted my portrait i did for him for Bloglovin.
And then i thought i would post the picture as part of the Blogger Portrait Series considering it is a blogger Portrait.

I drew a Vogue cover from 1962 on the plane ride over here, not sure if it's Audrey Hepburn on it or not,
but it sure looks just like her!
Well anyways friends, 5 day count down till the wedding. i'm pretty excited.
The wedding is going to be on the beach in Alice's backyard.
Think we are going to be build a gazebo for the ceremony today.

The Siren Day 4 Hawaii

Hello i'm back!
Lost the internet for another night, but i'm back.
Sitting in Miss Alice's house right on the water on the North Shore; it's amazing!
This is the drawing i did on the plane of a siren.
She is just drifting out to the boy who crashed up ahead.

Oh thanks for the great name suggestions!
i love all the names, still formulating the exact name.

Hello From Hawaii

Hawai- Day 1-2

Hello hello my friends!!
Sorry for such a long absence.
Just got connected with a little thing called the "Internet"
I'm currently sitting in my cousin's house in Hawaii less than a hundred yards from the beach.
It's currently the end of day two here.
Yesterday was amazing; my cousin Dick and my bother and I went on a hike up these mountains behind their house.
Then we hiked to some Pill Boxes back from WW2, it was incredible to see.
i have a huge fascination with WW2 so it was amazing to see from there!
Then today we slept in a little (super jet lagged),
and then we ended up going into Honolulu to the Punchbowl Cemetery.
i was blown away at how insanely beautiful the memorial was...
so brilliant looking! From there we went over to Punahou School (where President Obama went to school)
and watch my cousin's water Polo game. which they destroyed the other team 14-1.

Oh so the picture today is a little character i made up on the flight over here.
i was listening to the New Fever Ray Album,
and this Dark Queen Arose in my head out of the music.
Not sure what to name her...
any ideas?
but i really like her vibe.

Lily Cole and Teen Vogue!

Well friends, today was long day,
and i'm sorry to say, i didn't finish that drawing for yea ;(
i had a lot to do today.
Did the drawing lesson with Molly (which i have to say, she is a natural!)
and then got prints ready to ship, between those few things, the day melted away.
Tomorrow, i'm off to work, and the next day Hawaii!
Don't worry, i will have a lot of sketches hopefully; traveling makes me want to draw non-stop for some reason!
hah Well, the drawing today is from my Character Sketchbook. i hope you like it.

Birth Pains.

Howdy friends, how are you all doing today?

Wow, so today was kinda relaxing; got organized, did some research.
Worked on Ginger Marmalade Toast Miester, and got the new Fever Ray!

Oh, so i know the title of this post is kinda random,
but it's a little play off of this saying Sophie used this one time.
She said we were pregnant with ideas, so i guess i'm currently having idea birth pains... haha random i know...
but today's post is just the concept sketch to my next painting.
i'm really excited about it. i hope it turns out.... hopefully i will finish it tomorrow!

Oh last, it's going to be fun giving the wonderful singer extraordinaire Molly Jenson drawing lessons tomorrow!
So like any good teacher, i'm putting together a lesson plan! hahaha

The First Oxygen Cover

Wow, long day but i'm home and about to go to bed which is good!
Dreamland is one of my favorite places! hah

I'm really glad you all liked the experiment!
I actually started a new one trying the same process.... we shall see how it turns out tomorrow!
i got a few requests to add it in my Etsy store so i ended up posting it in two sizes:

The pick today is my first magazine cover idea for oxygen magazine,
but then we ended up going with a little brighter cover.

The Girl Experiment

Well, ok so you all requested it....
this was my late night drawing experiment.
It was a super funking and weird technique to get where i got.
It would to hard to explain,
but i don't know, i think it was an interesting idea i want to explore in the near future...
It's definitely different, huh?
Well, for me, i guess.
I finished up 14.5 pages out of 26 in the kid's book, so almost there.
Leaving for Hawaii in less than a week!

The Girls Of the Lookbook

GOOOD MORRRnning to all!
I'm currently finishing up my second coffee this morning and excited about today!
So, first off just want to apologize for the lack of new drawings.
I've been swamped on projects trying to finish up Miss Sophie Wards and my kid's book.
Getting very excited, going to work all today on it,
but anyways, i've been feeling guilty about not posting any new drawings,
so i ended up starting a picture at 11 last night and working till 2 for you all...
but you know me, i couldn't just do a straight forward picture....
so i tried this crazy crazy experimental technique that i made up in my head a few days ago...
and well the picture turned out super crazy and weird...
I wasn't sure about posting it. haha
so i decided to post a close up of this Lookbook drawing i did for the Academy of Art for New York Fashion Week.
it's actually one of my favorites from the Lookbook,
which on a side note was like 2 years ago!
What the !? It seems like just yesterday!
Oh my, how these drawing just roll by!

Ok, so i was talking with my friend on ichat,
and looking through files on my computer
when i realized how many blogger portraits there are now.
i kinda lost track and now i think there are like 24?
So crazy! Wow, so many great blogs out there.
Thanks to all of you readers and bloggers for making such a great community.

So i L-O-V-E-D Roman Holiday.
Think i'm going to see it again.
i think it just tied for first with Funny Face,
but the more i think about it, maybe solid number one.
i think part of it is because i daydream all day about traveling and going on adventures with princesses,
which is basically the movie, but yes, it was wonderful.
Thanks for suggesting it!

Mr. Baxley and Viento Y Agua

Hello Friends,
Well, Mr. Ryan Baxley and Miss Molly Jenson's Concert at Viento Y Agua was amazing!
Both of them sound great.
i was bummed cause i forgot my camera to take pictures for my Image Diary...
so i ended up trying to take a picture with my pen...
which is quiet difficult....
if you have ever tried drawing someone moving and preforming you know what i'm saying... hah
this is my little sketch of it.
Kinda funny, but it was really fun!

Etsy Part 2

Oh dear Friends, how are you today!?
Wow, today was an action packed day...
been packaging prints all day.
i decided to hand write letters to all you lovely people who got prints.
So, needless to say, it took a while,
but i just wanted to let you all know how much it really means to me. :)
So what have you all been up too?
My mom rented Roman Holiday and i think my whole family is going to see it tomorrow.
So i will let you know what i think, i'm really excited about it!
i think i might invent a time machine to meet Miss Hepburn!

Heather Marks Vogue Nippon

So two day went fast; got a lot done.
i listened to an album of all Fred Astaire songs.
It was so GOOD! i love Fred Astaire, he is amazing. :)
Oh also had my first in person interview today.
It was fun, alot different than doing interviews over email.

The drawing today i did a while back.
It's pretty funny, this person had started a Myspace profile pretending to be Heather Marks(model),
and at the time, i believed it,
so i did this drawing and sent it to her, all excited to see what she thought of it only to find out....
... oh yes, it was a fake account....
hahahaha i was suckered.
Oh well, if it casued me to make this picture, i'm not mad at it ;)

Hey Friends, how are you?
Wow, i don't know about you.. but it's been a busy last few weeks,

Sketch 102

Hello, hello!
Sorry for the absence...
I went up to central California Friday to
watch the California High School State Wrestling Championships.
A few of the kids i used to coach were wrestling in the competition.
It was really fun, but i'm super tired now and a little sick.

The drawing today is Number 102 out of my Character Sketchbook.
i did this about a year ago....
Oh! i'm going to Hawaii in 3 weeks for one of my best friend’s weddings.
It's going to be amazing, starting to get excited! Woot woot!

Mr. Toastmeister

Wow, oh wow!
It seems like yesterday that my friend Sophie Ward and i started planning out
how her great story, "The Ginger Marmalade Toastmeister", would look...
I remember sitting at this amazing coffee shop in Santa Monica,
huddling around rough thumbnail sketches,
and brain storming all the little subtle touches we could add to it...
aw i miss those days!

I realized it was almost a year to the day since i started working on the book.
And don't worry, i will finish it really soon.
That is my goal! i'm closing in on it.
My friend Jason Jones hand wrote all the type for it!
