Sofia Coppola & French Vogue

Danny Roberts Drawing of Sofia Coppola on the cover of Vogue Paris

What happens when Sofia Coppola and French Vogue come together? Magic!
Just got finished with this drawing...
Wow, today was really long, wasn't sure if i was going to get to draw today,
but at 9 o'clock tonight, i saw this picture and decided i had to draw it right that instant.
It's just was too beautiful.
Plus, as most of you know, it's my life goal to illustrate a Cover of Vogue.
So, i just keep praticing it! haha
i love everything about it, so Voila! painted it for yawl.
I really like how it turned out.
I hope you like it. :)

EDIT: Thank You Noami & Teen Vogue for the Post you are wonderful! :)
Also, for all you who Ordered Prints I shipped out everything yesterday, so they're on the way. Thanks again :)

The Alexander McQueen Display

Well, i think I'm officially done with youtube!
I edited this Video yesterday for you all,
and was having tons of trouble uploading it,
then finally this morning when i got the Video up on there, what happens?
Youtube had disabled the audio to my video cause it said the audio violates the copyright of i think it was Universal Music Group...
Which is kind of ridiculous considering i paid them money by buying the song,
and it's not like i'm selling the video...
So, huh? Now, i can't make videos unless i write all the music?
Whatever... Sorry for the mini-rant, but i was pretty disappointed this morning.
So solution! Vimeo!!
They are better in every regard so i will be uploading everything to them for now on.

The Video i made by mapping camera movements of still pictures i took of my McQueen Display.
Basically, i love all of Alexander McQueen's Collections cause they're straight out of a storybook.
So with that said, i decided to create a world for McQueen's People.
This Layered Display is what i came up with.
I call it "The Under Ground Forest"
All the clothes in the Display are from McQueen Collections.
I hope you like it. Wish you all could see it in real life. :)
It's definitely the piece i personally enjoy the most.

Brandi Cyrus & Taylor Swift

April 26, 2009

a Painted Portrait of Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus sister, Brandi Cyrus by Danny Roberts

Wow, so so so glad it's the weekend!
The last two weeks have bled into one, leaving me one tired boy!
But alas, it's the weekend! woot woot woot!
How is it going for yawl?

Ok so i wasn't sure how to categorize todays portrait...
Wasn't sure if it was going to be in the Blogger Portrait Series or Pop Culture Series...
then i realized, it's technically both, so i'm putting them in both.

Today i was talking with my really good friend Mr. Tim Brooks,
who is in the greatest most fun group alive called LUVBEAT,
and i clicked over to their Myspace Music Page to listen to their Miley Cyrus cover song they did with their neighbor, Sam.

Well, anyways, somehow i stumbled on to Brandi Cyrus's Blog,
and i had fun looking through it and reading her post.
Then i came a across this picture of her and Taylor Swift on the blog so i thought it would be fun to do a double blogger portrait of them,
cause Taylor keeps an interesting Blog on Myspace.
I really like how the picture turned out.
It was the first drawing i've done in so long on actually art paper.
It felt good! hah.
Well, i hope you all like it.

OH also congrats to Lulu of the Blog Lulu and your Mom for getting your styling in Nylon Magazine.
Also, Congrats Tavi for having your INCREDIBLE shirt featured in Vogue France!! So amazing! :)

Danny Roberts Blogger portrait of Karla of Karlas Closet

Not quite sure how i am yawning at 9:30 at night, but i am... haa.
Today was a long one.
Finished a painting, started and finished another one,
and also organized and packaged prints to get them ready to ship.
It was long but great!

Well, the new Blogger Portrait is of Karla of the blog Karlas closet.
i have been following her blog for a while; it is a great style blog,
but last week i stumbled on to a picture of her that i had to draw.
All the lines and color and sunglasses, it just looked fun to draw.
i hope you all like it! :)

April 21, 2009

Happy Tuesday Folks!
Wow, i'm tired! Spent the last 6 hours rendering a hounds tooth dress...
needless to say, my eyes are numb and hands tired!
But on another note, took a new set of pictures of my Alexander McQueen layered art piece.
The only thing is, i'm not done going through the images yet, so i will post the rest of them tomorrow, ok?
The image above is just one close up of it.
i have to say, it might be my all time favorite thing i have made.
i think it's cause it's the one that has taken me the longest to make.
i think it was something like 5 weeks to make,
but yes, i will post more tomorrow!
Hope you all are doing wonderful :)

All the people who have a bad case of the Mondays, raise your hand...
For those who can't see me, i'm raising my hand... hahah
Well, at least it's down and out of the way.
i think this week is going to be a long, brutal one,
which, on a good note, means i should have some good dreams this week.
If i have any good dreams, i will type them up and post it for yawl.

The drawing today is from my Character Sketchbook.
The image i drew was of Lily Cole Back Stage at, I believe, a Dior show, but I can't remember.
i like the raw rush of the scene.
i hope you all like it! :)

Just To Pass the Time

April 17, 2009

Hello friends, i'm just working right now on a painting,
so i thought i would post a quick video to pass the time.
i think i posted it like 6 months ago but the quality was pretty bad so i re-uploaded it yesterday.
The video is one i made 3 years ago for my friend.
She had never seen the sport of wrestling before,
and since i had been wrestling since i was 3 yrs. old,
and was currently coaching the sport, i put together this video of clips of me wrestling
when i was 4 yrs old and in high school...
and since there were no digital cameras back when i was a little lad,
i had to film the tv to digitize it, so if you see me sitting in the reflection on the video, that is why! haha
Hope you like it.
