Happy Cyber Monday!

I've been packing & shipping prints all day.
How was your weekend?
Mine was great.
I started drawing in Volume 3 of the Character Sketchbook.
It was really fun, cause i kinda got new direction for volume 3.
I want to improve at speed drawing,
so i started doing some 10 minute drawings.
and i added Tanya Dziahileva into Volume 3.
I'm having way too much fun drawing her.
So i hope you like this 10 minute sketch. :)

Hello, hello friend!
i'm pleased to finally have the prints up!
I ran a test print of the "My girl wears Chanel" print and i was blown away!
By far, my new favorite print! :)

Just watched "Good Bye Lenin" with my family!
Wow! i forgot how brilliant that movie is.
If you haven't seen it, it is a must see. :)

Raining Confetti & the Raging Sea - Inspiration Friday

Hey, hey, hey Friends
How was your day?
My day has been amazing!
Took the day and have just been relaxing.
Just finished catching up with a good friend of mine,
and now got yawl a new set of Inspiration Friday images!
Someone on the last Insp-Fri set asked why i didn't cite who the photographers were or where they came from.
and the truth of the matter is, i don't really know. i have an "inspiration" folder on my computer full of images,
but they aren't labeled, so i don't really know.
Sorry about that. If you know who did the photos, let me know; i would love to give credit.
The only image i know for sure is the Toulouse Lautrec painting on the left, 3 up from the bottom.
But i hope they inspire you! :)

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving~!
I know for alot of you, today isn't the US holiday called "Thanksgiving",
but i was thinking, why can't it be!
i mean, what a wonderful idea, a day to remember and think about what you are thankful for.
So, what are yawl thankful for?
Since one of the things i'm so thankful for is you all,
i thought i would make you a Special Thanksgiving Painting.
I was thinking you could share the painting with someone you're thankful for.
I thought a Karl Lagerfeld Thanksgiving would be a good start for a painting.
Oh, also dressed all the girls in the Chanel Spring 2010 Collection ;)

The Ladies of Jason Wu

Well, I thought i would post another drawing for you.
A little while back, when my brother and I were in New York for Fashion Week,
we ran into my friend, Elana Fishman.
Elana was formerly working for Teen Vogue & formerly was Miss Julia Frakes roommate.
But anyways, when i got talking with her, she told me about her new amzing job working for Jason Wu!
When i saw Jason's amazing Collection, i asked her if she could send me some pictures of the collection,
because i really wanted to draw it.
She was kind enough to send me some, and this is the first of what i'm sure will be many Jason Wu drawings.
SO, i hope you like it! ;)

The Pilgrimage of Yves Saint Laurent

Alrighty, last but definitely not least, in my painted journey through Paris Fashion Week,
we come to Yves Saint Laurent!
Ok, so i've seen a lot of shoulder pads, but i have to say, these were surprisingly awesome!
They are really fun looking!
Since we in the US are closing in on Thanksgiving, I thought this painting was quite fitting,
cause the shoulders kind of reminded me of the collars of the Pilgrims! haha

Happy Christian Dior Monday

Good morning, my friends!!
Shoot, this was a really fun weekend,
and now, on this Monday morning, I'm in need of some coffee!
My friends from the Band Eisley were in town this weekend,
which made for a great time.
They were touring with the band "Say Anything".
Saturday night, they performed at the House of Blues in San Diego,
and while we were in San Diego,
we ended up meeting up with Rumi (Fashiontoast) & her boy friend Colin for dinner.
It was great seeing them and catching up with them.
Last time my brother and I had hung out with them was in New York for Fashion Week.
Later that night, the whole Eisley crew came back to my house to crash.
Then yesterday, we were off to The Troubadour in Hollywood for their last concert of the tour.
It was really a good time catching up.
Forgive me for my posting absence last night!
This is why there wasn't one...

So i thought... why not make this morning a Merry Christian Dior Monday Morning! :)
This is painting 1 out of the 5 paintings of Paris Fashion Week i did for Sundance Channel's Full Fontal Fashion.

Oh Yea... Did Yawl See McQueen?

First off, i have to say, i was completely touched by all your warm and encouraging comments on the last post!
Seriously, means alot! So thank you, thank you :)
Ok. So, did yawl see the Alexander McQueen Show??
How insane was that!?
In my life, I want to...

A) Attend an Alexander McQueen show
B) Collaborate with him on a project!

Basically, i was blown away by this collection!
So, when picking out which collections to paint for Paris Fashion Week coverage for Sundance Channel,
i had to paint something from this collection.
I really like how it turned out and crazy enough,
a week after i finished this piece, Bryan Boy twitted a link to a picture of a beautiful girl named Camilla Belle.
Oh, and guess which dress she was sporting???
Yep, this one!
It was fun seeing her wearing it.
I hope you like it!

Oh, also, my friends have been trying to get me on Facebook for a while... and i always fought it,
and my friend Ryan has been fighting getting a Twitter account,
and yesterday, he got a twitter account....
So, i broke down today and created a Facebook account.

Red Lips + Valentino Dress

Well, my friends, I'm so so glad you like my new girl!!
Really means alot! ;)
How was your day today?
So, kinda funny story today...
I got the random idea of auditioning for the 4th Twilight movie,
cause i heard they were going on, and i thought it would be a fun experience.
Plus, i've been kicking around the idea of doing a little acting...
Anyways, i found the site to sign up for the audition, filled out all the info, even uploaded a "headshot" (which was hilarious! haha)
and when i finished, it said that auditions ended about 2 weeks ago!! haha
i was like, what! come on! haha! oh well...

So, I picked the painting today in honor of that story,
cause when i was researching the audition, i stumbled on to the "New Moon" Premiere...
and was pleasantly surprised that Dakota Fanning was wearing the incredible black lace Valentino Dress
that i had painted for Sundance Chanel's "Full Frontal Fashion" as part of the Paris Fashion week coverage.
The dress was by far my pick for favorite/Best Dress of this season.
It's just beautiful and eloquent!
I really liked how the painting turned out :)
The render of the dress at that angle was actually pretty hard for me to draw!
It took way longer than i planned.
i hope you like it.

P.S. I posted pictures of my sister's display at the "L.A. CanStruction" in my image Diary. My sister's is the first picture up there. The L.A. CanStruction is a design/build competition of teams of architects, competing to design and build giant structures made entirely from full cans of food, and then all the cans are donated to the local food banks.

My Girl Wears Chanel

Well, my friends, it's finally here!
This is the painting i mentioned a few weeks back that I did for Sundance Chanel's Full Frontal Fashion
for their Paris Fashion Week Coverage.
The painting is of Chanel's Spring 2010 Collection
and this painting is my current computer wallpaper! haha
I just really like how strong & innocent she came out.

Julia In Motion -- Video

Well, I'm excited to unveil the 5th Speed Painting Video.
It's me painting Julia Frakes Benefit Invite.
I tried something a little different this time around.
So, I picked out this genius song by Yann Tiersen,
before i even started the drawing...
Then i counted how many beats per minute there were in the song.
Also, i broke the song up into 4 main parts.
So then my goal was to try to create a visual that matched the music,
which means i had to draw a line and then stop and take a picture, and so on...
It was brutal, i'm not going to lie. haha
Trying to pay attention to the drawing, and also counting how many pictures i had taken,
so i could coordinate different mediums coming into the music....
Basically, this video was kinda crazy to make...
but i really like how it turned out.

There are a lot of subtleties in this video which makes it fun to watch and re watch.
I hope you like how this Stop Motion Video turned out.

The Answer My Friend is Blowing in the Wind

Hey, hey, hey, my friends.
I just got back from L.A.
My sister and her architecture firm participated in "Canstruction L.A."
which is a can foods fundraiser for the L.A. food bank,
where they fundraise to buy can foods and they build amazing displays/structures out of the cans!
My sis's display won "Best Use of Labels".
It was incredible! So Genius! She did such an amazing job. :)
I took alot of pictures i'm going to try to post on my image diary tomorrow.
Also, my new video is going to make its debut tomorrow!
I'm really excited cause this video was kinda brutal to make,
but i think it is the best one yet :)

The painting today is Volume 1 of my Character Sketchbook.
I actually think this was my first Sketch with ink ever.
It's of Lily Cole.

Welcome To the Land of Love

Last night was incredible!
The Movie was sooooo soooooo goood!

Awe, so happy it's Inspiration Friday!
The theme is "The Land of Love"
What is the Land of Love, you ask?
Well, so basically, i have this random theory that whenever i fall in love, i will disappear from "This World"
and be magically teleported to the world people call "The Land of Love". (see images below)
This is the land where there is always a fog or a smokey haze.
A land filled with Mystery & Adventure.
So with that said, i hope you like the images.
