The picture today is from Backstage at Odd Molly's Spring 2011 collection.
I have tons of really fun pictures from this show, i can't wait to post.
I really like how this picture turned out in particular.
I actually wasn't suppose to be standing where i was when i took it,
but i didn't know till someone kindly informed me i was suppose to stand back there. haah
Too bad cause my favorite pictures were taken up there.

Cecile's Little Girl Series

Hi Friends! How was your weekend?
I'm thoroughly exhausted from a long weekend. My brother David and I have been driving up and down the state.
I thought today i would post this quick little sketch i did of French photographer Cecile Decorniquet's brilliant portrait series.
I'm not sure if you have seen her series of little kids,
but I love the series so much i want to draw every picture from it!
I ended up sketching this during a car ride this week,
I so i thought i would post it!

My Heutchy Collaboration Part 2

Hey friends!
Well I'm excited to finally show you the Collaboration i did with Heutchy Shoes.
Heutchy shoes is one of my all time favorite men's shoe company.
I think they make the best shoes.
So needless to say, i was honored to design fabric for another pair of shoes.
They were looking for a very bright saturated abstract texture of the print.
I played around with a few ideas and this neon leaves idea was what i finally came up with.
I really like how they turned out :)
I still haven't seen them in person, but i'm dying to!

Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring 2011

Well I'm not sure if you all have been following the Couture shows going on right now,
But a few days ago i was looking through the pictures of the amazing Christian Dior Haute Couture show,
and there was this one specific garment that I had to paint the second i saw it.
I really like how the painting turned out.
It's one of my biggest dreams to be invited to a couture show and getting to paint the collection!
That would be so insane... but until then i made this ; )

First of the 3rd Volume: Character Sketchbook 201

Good Afternoon!
Shoot, i think all the late nights caught up to me today!
Ended up over-sleeping by a few hours today,
so i'm playing catch up right now so i have to make it short,
because i'm trying to finish up a painting for you all...
Hopefully, have it up tonight! :)
Today's post is the first mixed media drawing out of Volume 3 of my Character Sketchbook.
I really like how volume 3 was turning out... i need to start back working on it again.
The photo was from one of my all time favorite fashion photographers, Steven Meisel,
and it was from his "Amish" editorial for Italian Vogue which is one of my favorite photoshoots.

Clean Lines and Interesting Fabrics

I thought i would throw another photo from Chris Benz collection in there today.
This one is one of my favorite pictures from the presentation.
I love the contrast between the soft look of the model and gain and grit of the photo.
Also i love the details of this garment, the fabric and cut is beautiful.
Does anyone know the name of this model?

New York - New York

Fashion Week? Already?
I seriously can't believe Fashion Week is right around the corner...
My brother and i just came to grips with that fact last night.
So i guess it's time to start planning huh? haha
New York is seriously such a fun and exciting place, its almost Too fun and Too exciting!
haha It takes us like two months to recover from that week,
Not sure how Bryanboy does it?
He is incredible, he goes non-stop, it's truly amazing~
The Photos today are from last Fashion Week,
from Chris Benz's amazing show. There where such incredible patterns & colors at the show.
I'm real excited to see this year's collection.
He is always one of the highlights of the trip :)

Hey Friends! Thanks for all the comments on the Proenza Schouler Painting & on the Speed painting Video! :)
It really means alot! I've been trying to comment back to everyone one that comments :)
The photo today is one i took Backstage at Andy & Debb show of the lovely Ruby-Jean Wilson.
It's really funny how it turned into a self portrait!
Just so happen, when i took the picture, I lined up perfectly in the make-up mirror.
Looks so trippy, like it was two picture merged together.
So funny! Well, i hope you like the picture. :)

Sean Cimino - Friends Road Trip part 1

So do you remember back like a week before last Fashion Week i went on a quick vacation with my best friends?
And i said that we try to take a trip like that every year?
Well i have tons of picture from it that I've been meaning to post,

Proenza Schouler + Foster the People

So, as I mentioned in the last post,
one of my best friends Sean Cimino is in a band called "Foster the People".
Well, I spent the day listening to their first EP.
So I had to put one of their songs on this video.
The painting is of Proenza Schouler Spring 2011 ads campaign.
I don't know if you have seen the ads but they are truly beautiful.
The second I saw the pictures I busted out a piece of paper and started sketching it.
So I thought I would make a video for you all :)

Gemma Ward - Character Sketchbook 134

Morning!
How are you doing today?

I'm still waking up...
Went to see my friend Sean play in a new band he is in called "Foster the People".
They are incredible! Really great and fun music.
Actually, their ep just came out today on itunes. You can get it here.
The Image today is from Volume 2 of my Character Sketch Book.
It was a pen drawing i did of Gemma Ward, but once i outlined it, it seemed like it needed something else so i added acrylic, and then color pencil.
I'm not sure what it is about this one, but it's one of my favorites in the series.

Carolina and the Unicornsquad

Hey Friends how was your weekend?
Mine was so much fun. I got to spend it with my good friend, Carolina Engman of Fashionsquad.
She and her sister, Camilla, came out to California this weekend to do a few photo shoots with a couple of magazines.
So my brother and my friends Ryan and Alice Baxley (Clouds & Candy) spent the weekend hanging out with the Engman sisters.
It was so much fun!
I ended up taking some behind the scenes pictures.
The Pictures today are two i took during the magazine shoot.

Caroline Brasch Nielsen in Rag and Bone

Morning, morning my friends! How are you doing today?
I'm pretty excited because my friend Carolina Engman(Fashionsquad) is flying into California today!
So hopefully my brother & i will get to see her in the next few days. :)
The Picture today is from the Rag & Bone Spring 2011 Show,
and stars Elite models' girl Caroline Brasch Nielsen.
I think my favorite part of this picture is Caroline's expression.
I also like the greenish tone in the picture.
I still haven't been able to place what it reminds me of but it reminds me of something...

New Year & New Brand

Good Morning!
Have any of you used to Fuji Films new instant cameras?
Fuji just went way up in my book because of it!
I seriously can't believe Polaroid stopped making the very thing they are famous for.
With that said, Fuji is Brilliant for deciding to keep making it!
I just recently bought my camera and i'm still getting to know the best settings for it.
But i really like it. The camera body is kinda huge but it's almost so big it's funny so i don't mind.
These are some picture I took on the New Year's Eve Road trip up to northern California i did with my brother,
to see my friend Benje.

Pinterest! Haah Not sure if i'm using it right but I started one thanks to my friend jenna.
Basically i created each of my boards as a sort of photo essay prompt and when i post on it i complete the prompt... if that makes sense?

Thought i would post this picture i took this last season backstage at Andy & Debb's Spring 2011 Presentation.
The Photo is the lovely New Zealand model, Grace Hollows.
Grace had a really lovely presence at all the shows i saw her at.
She has great experssions.
If you don't remember, i painted her a few months ago from the picture i took at Rachel Antonoff Spring 2011 Presentation.
I really love the perspective of this picture.
I'm looking forward to painting it in the near future! :)

It was right after we left the Gerlan Jeans show. My brother Dave and Julia and I had a lovely lunch
out at the Statue of Christopher Columbus at Columbus Circle.
I took this picture during that time.

Elle Fanning Time-lapse Painting

Hello Hello!
How was your weekend?
I saw a brilliant movie called the "The King's Speech".
If you haven't seen it, go see it.
It's such a moving movie. Loved it!

So I'm happy to present you with a new Speed Painting Video.
As your remember, a month ago i started watching Hayao Miyazaki and i saw his movie "My Neighbor Totoro".
The main girls in the English version of the movie were played by, at the time very young little sisters Elle & Dakota Fanning.
I was blown way how amazing they were in that movie.
And then recently, i stumbled across a beautiful editorial of Elle Fanning (not sure what magazine it was from).
She has a really great look.
She has a little bit of Gemma/Sophie Ward look going on, plus she was wearing a dress from Valentino's spring 2011 collection,
and I thought she would be perfect in my pop culture series,
so the other day i did this painting and made this video for yawl.
I had to do some finishing touches on the painting,
but will post it tomorrow! I hope you like the video!

Yay! Happy Inspiration Friday!
I'm really excited to get back painting now that everything is clean.
I started sketching out the concept of what i'm going to paint...
and needless to say, i'm really excited to start it.
The Inspiration Friday set today was semi inspired by Dreams.
You know how in dreams, things that are strange and different exist in your dream,
yet somehow they don't seem out of place,
and how most of the faces your see in dreams look familiar even though you may not know the people.
Well this was kinda my starting concept with this set.

Marcelia Freesz - Top Newcomers Spring 2011

So back when i was doing Top Newcomers Spring 2011 Series for Models.com
I had finished the whole series and right before the paintings were going to go up
I found out there was one more girl i needed to paint.
It was a girl from One Management named Marcelia Freesz.
So last minute, i started researching to find some images of her so i could paint her,
and all i can say is wow.
She has quite an amazing strong distinct look.
Very interesting eyes and head shape.
So this was a really fun picture to do,
and i like how the overall mood of it turned out.

Ataui Deng @cmbenz Fall 2010

Morning!
So after 3 days of cleaning and building shelves and sorting and organizing,
i'm happy to say i'm just about finished and i'm dying to start making things again.
I just had to get organized, it was driving me crazy.
There is something so refreshing about having a clean organized room...
even though it only last a day or so haha.
This picture is one i took of the lovely Ataui Deng backstage at Chris Benz Fall 2010 presentation.
She is so strikingly beautiful, she caught my eye right away.
I really love how the picture turned out, there is a sense of movement, but her eyes steady the image.
I have to say this was one of my favorites a few seasons ago.
I think i have a few more of her that really turned out amazing.
I'll have to post soon :)

First Ink Painting

I was looking through Volume 1 of my Character Sketchbook,
and i just had to post it.
It's actually my first ink painting i had ever done.
It was the 45th picture in the series and the picture of Gemma Ward just looked like it should be painted.
I don't know why i love this series so much.
It's pretty raw and they aren't my best drawings, but for some reason it's one of my most favorite projects i've done.
I really want to start working on Volume 3 now.

Crossing the Dragon Gap

Well, the drawing today is from my "Character Sketch Book" which i started right when i really started drawing...
Which was 4 years ago. So weird to think i've only really been drawing constantly for 4 years.
It seems so long ago. haha.
Well, the Phrase "Crossing the Dragon Gap" refers to traveling into the unknown,
because in the olden days map makers would draw dragons in places no one had traveled.
Well, learning how to draw was the first real dragon gap i had crossed...
And as i set goals for this next year, and mapped out my dreams for the year,
Looks like i will have to cross another "Dragon Gap".
I'm a little nervous/anxious, but I'm also so painfully excited to share the journey with you all.
Needless to say, this Image is perfect for expressing what I'm feeling right now ;)

Random story.... I Drew this in the bleachers of a wrestling tournament when i was couching wrestling with my dad. :)

Hey morning friends!
So i'm trying to start this new year off right which means i've been cleaning & getting organized like there is no tomorrow!
As i was cleaning, i stumbled on my issue of TeenVogue, and realized i never Posted it!
What is wrong with me! hahaa
Seriously been so disorganized lately!
Sorry for that.
But here it is! i had the honor of contributing some prints for TeenVogue's Room Make Over.
I Love TeenVogue! Seriously everyone over there is the nicest people i have ever met.
And i love the concept of room make overs.
I'm so happy Paola Henriquez, one of the winners, got my prints. They fit perfectly in her room.

How are you doing?
I was looking through Fashion Week Pictures and this picture is of my friend Miss Julia Frakes of Bunny Bisous.
Julia is one amazing person.
I think most people aren't aware of all she does.

She is amazing; she's a writer, editor, stylist, you name it, and she can do it ;)

Thom Yorke

So i just realized i never posted a big version of this oil painting i did of Thom Yorke of Radiohead.
I painted it two years ago for my friend Stacy Dupree.
She is a singer and shares the same birthday as Thom, so i thought it would be a good birthday present.
I really like how it turned out.
It seriously just happened.
I threw on some Radiohead and began painting and a few hours later it was done!
It's a lot different style wise than my usual stuff...
i think it kinda has the "Thom Yorke" Vibe....
